MAKING A DIFFERENCE
WE ARE EXTREMELY PASSIONATE ABOUT GOING GREEN AND BEING CONSIDERATE TO THE ENVIRONMENT WE WORK IN.
Not just during our events, but year round, we work to ensure we minimise impact through company wide goals to recycle all waste and make all our farms green!
Since 2008 Grist Environmental have been collecting and recycling the waste generated at Temple Island Meadows. During this year’s Henley Royal Regatta we are aiming for zero landfill. For more information on our recycling programme, please click here.
We work closely with both Peppermint Events for our bars and Grist Environmental for our waste to ensure that we do the best we can for the environment, especially with all the cups that are used during the event. Peppermint have commisioned extensive research which shows conclusively that the best type of cups to use at open events are disposable plastic, as long as they are managed correctly. The reusable cups are far worse for the environment when it comes to manufacturing and transport. The paper cups need to be specially treated to remove the coating and there are very few places in the UK that can do this. Grist Environmental take away all the rubbish from the blue bins on our site and sort it to make sure that everything that is able to be recycled is, including the plastic disposable cups. One of the amazing things they can do is turn these cups in to benches. It’s something we are keen to investigate for the future.
WATER WORKS FOR THE PLANET : official still water partner for Temple Island Meadows during Henley Royal Regatta
The local spring water brand was chosen for its eco credentials – it is aligned with our values and ethos; we both have a strong commitment to sustainability.
WATER WORKS 330ml Spring water cartons will be served on all bars in a bid to cut down on plastic consumption at the event. Cartons are also the lowest carbon footprint package option on the market.
The paper used to make WATER WORKS cartons comes from responsibly managed forests which pull harmful CO2 from the air, and their caps are made of sugarcane NOT plastic.
These cartons can be reused, recycled and have a significantly lower carbon footprint compared to cans and bottles thanks to the uniquely efficient way in which they are transported, and because of their light-weight.

We are delighted that our donations of Pavilions, parking and other tickets raised over £8000 for local charities this year!
We are committed to supporting a few selected local and national charities each year. If you would like to be considered for next year’s event, please contact us at email@example.com. Please be aware we limit the number of charities per year to ensure we are able to maximise the support for the charities we work with.
We try to ensure that our venue and events are as accessible and inclusive as possible to everyone. We seek advice on all the improvements we make to ensure we are always making our facilities easier to use for all. That’s why we support the wonderful work that Whizz-Kidz do. They’re working hard to transform the lives of disabled children across the UK, providing the equipment, training and support they need to become confident young adults and reach their true potential.
Since 2016 we have supported Whizz-Kidz at Temple Island Meadows during Henley Royal Regatta, where they have raised almost £15,000! We are very proud to have worked with them to generate these much needed funds, which have a truly life-changing impact for disabled children and young people. The amount raised is enough to fund two specialist powered wheelchairs for children who cannot get suitable equipment from the NHS, and three ten hour Wheelchair Skills training courses for up to 10 young people. These wheelchairs give children freedom and independence, enabling them to play, learn and develop the skills and confidence they need to build bright futures.

We would like to thank all those who have donated over the last four years and look forward to working together in 2020 to unlock young disabled people’s potential.

Marlow Rowing Club
As strong supporters of rowing, we work with a number of charities and rowing clubs to ensure their financial stability. We have worked with Marlow Rowing club for over 5 years and will continue to support the great work they do.
Marlow Rowing Club Presidents Fund
The President’s Fund was established to encourage members of the club with ambition to represent their country. 2011 was the 20th anniversary year of its foundation and in that period the Fund has been able to help a significant number of young members to achieve their ambition.
We make an annual donation to the presidents fund for the use of Sir Steve Redgraves name for the Redgrave VIP Bar area.
